When you start the journey of building a new home, one of the first and most important decisions that you must make is choosing which community you want to call home. While you may be set on life in the city or love the idea of rural living, you’ll come to find that there are benefits to both and it truly comes down to what will be best for you and your family. Join us as we take you through the different benefits between city life and rural living, and the different communities we have available.

Life in the City

Living in the city has numerous benefits! Whether you’re looking for an abundance of amenities close by, or prefer the interconnected feel of neighboring communities, city life can provide everything you need. You still have an array of options when it comes to choosing your lot style, and every community we build in promotes an active lifestyle with walking paths and naturalized lakes. Other benefits of living in the city include:

  • Public transportation
  • Close-knit communities
  • An array of entertainment options
  • Close proximity to medical and emergency services
  • The convenience of nearby amenities
  • Many options for public and private education
  • Shorter commute
  • And the list goes on!

We build in 3 communities within the city limits including:

Sage Creek

Sage Creek is a diverse community that appeals to a variety of family dynamics. Whether you’re an active family that loves nature, one that’s looking for their retirement home or a young family looking for your forever home and community, Sage Creek has an abundance to offer.

The Sage Creek Village Centre provides many amenities including (but not limited to) Sobey’s, Shoppers Drug Mart, the Sage Creek Animal Hospital, as well as the Sage Creek Dental Centre, and it’s constantly expanding its services! This community also boasts 9 kilometres of walking and cycling trails, 66 acres of native grasses and 27 acres of wetlands, as well as a Kindergarten to Grade 8 dual-track school right within the community – Ecole Sage Creek School!

Ridgewood West

Ridgewood West is in its final stages of development, so if you want to live here you’ll need to act fast! This community is conveniently located near the west perimeter, giving you easy access to leave the city or drive south down Wilkes to an array of amenities. The Kenaston Common, Costco, Ikea and much more are just a 10 minute drive away.

This community sits adjacent to the Harte Trail, as well as provides walking trails, green spaces and playgrounds throughout. Whether you’re looking for a place to raise your family or settle into a calmer lifestyle, Ridgewood West could be everything you’re looking for!

Bison Run

Bison Run has been a highly anticipated community joining Waverly West! It is designed to accommodate your evolving lifestyle no matter what life stage you’re in, and will be perfect for families or individuals alike. It will boast an abundance of green spaces, limestone trails throughout and naturalized wetlands. It is conveniently located between Kenaston Boulevard and Waverly Street, just a short drive from all the amenities you need, including the University of Manitoba, IG Field and Athletic Centre, and soccer fields!

Rural Living

If you’re looking for a more tranquil lifestyle, living outside the city limits may be the right choice for you. While rural communities aren’t as close to the amenities of the city, many are just a short drive away and won’t pose any inconvenience. You can look forward to larger lots in these communities, which could mean more freedom when it comes to picking your new home plan! More benefits of rural living include:

  • Less traffic
  • Lower property taxes
  • Quieter atmosphere
  • Surrounded by nature
  • Larger lots and more privacy
  • Strong sense of community

Every rural community we build in is just a short drive from the city! The communities include:

Oak Bluff West

Oak Bluff West is just outside of the southwest perimeter and only 15 minutes from all your shopping needs. Stores such as Costco, Home Depot and Ikea are conveniently located near Kenaston, while smaller conveniences are located just minutes up the road. Tim Horton’s, Canada Post and an Esso gas station are all on your way towards the perimeter highway.

It is also the perfect community for families with a kindergarten to grade 8 community school and preschool program within the community, and a high school that’s just a 10 minute drive away. This quiet, rural community is the ideal location to raise your family and offers large lots with a lower tax base.

Taylor Farm

Taylor Farm is a newer community located 10 minutes west of the city and has a lot to offer its residents. The Basswood Forest is a rare sight to see in Manitoba and gives beautiful scenery for your daily stroll. The community also provides paved walking paths throughout, with the Assiniboine River bordering the south side of the community.

Amenities of Taylor Farm include Headingley Foods, a convenience store that offers postal services as well as a small ice cream parlour (perfect for summer evenings!), two community centres nearby, and the Phoenix Nursery School, Phoenix School and Phoenix After School Program just across the way.

Grande Pointe Meadows

Grande Pointe Meadows is a growing rural community located 5 minutes south of the city limits, providing easy access to nearby amenities such as the Sage Creek Village Centre, along with the St. Vital Shopping Centre that is just a few minutes further.

Grande Pointe Meadows offers larger lots than you’ll find within the city, and the quieter, country feel of this community provides a serene atmosphere that is perfect for those looking for a more relaxed lifestyle.
